Hello, It’s Me

If there is one thing I can say with absolute certainty, it’s that I am terrible at introducing myself.

It’s more that I don’t know where to start instead of not knowing who I am as a person – although you could argue I am not up to speed on that topic either, but I’ll save that for another post.

So, maybe I’ll just jump right into explaining why I decided to create this little corner of the internet in the first place.

I have been wanting to create a blog for a while now, and by a while I mean years. It started off by wanting to exercise my love for writing, and then I decided, why not use this voice I’ve been given (or rather, underappreciated typing skills) for good?

I always felt like I had a bigger story to tell – call it egotistic if you will – but I couldn’t find the right platform to tell it. There are lots of words you could use to describe me: female, multiracial, hard of hearing, Third Culture Kid – all of which, I guess you could say, sum me up pretty well. But the problem with those words is that they are labels, and what comes with labels are inevitable stereotypes.

At twenty-one years old I am constantly on a path towards self-discovery, finding out what it means to be a stuck in a world bound by labels. This blog is a way for me to document that journey and perhaps learn a thing or two along the way.

While this blog may primarily involve my own experiences as a human being, I always hope that someone out there can relate – whether it’s a little girl afraid to show off her new hearing aids, an international student missing home, or someone who doesn’t even know where ‘home’ is.

So, without further ado, I’d like to officially welcome you aboard this crazy ride called life, and I hope you have some fun along the way too!
